Avoid golf injuries with these expert tips

Golf seems like a mild, gentle game, does it not? And in many ways it is. However, don’t let that fool you into thinking that you can’t get hurt playing golf. Just because no one’s around to hit or block you, it doesn’t mean you can’t get injured. Perhaps, the best comparison we can think of is working out in the gym. While you’re alone doing your thing, you can still hurt yourself. That’s how it is with golf.

Let’s take a look at how to avoid injuries while playing this beautiful game.

Posture

As with many sports, good posture is the foundation of golf. You’ll spend hours trying to hit a ball on the ground with a club. In doing so, you’ll be putting a lot of stress on your back – from your neck all the way down to just above your glutes. A lot of new golfers complain about back pain after a long day of golf.

To prevent this, golfers have to practice perfect posture and form.

Exercise

When we say exercise, we also include stretching. Strengthening the core muscles translates to a stronger back. This reduces the chances of sustaining back injuries in golf.

As for the shoulders, golfers need to stretch regularly to keep the ligaments flexible and their joints, well lubricated. Common problem spots in golfers are the rotator cuffs, elbows, and wrists.
